Ms. Sirkové describes her reaction when she received the congratulatory phone call. Ms. Sirkové and Mr. Smith met through mutual friends in Cary, North Carolina and became engaged on December 25, 2006 in the bride's hometown of Bardejov, Slovak Republic. Most of the bride's immediate family will be traveling to the U.S. from Bardejov to join the couple at their Topsail Beach ceremony. Ms. Sirkové's younger brother, Milan Sirka who serves in the Slovakian military, will be unable to attend the ceremony since he will be training for deployment to serve in Afghanistan this summer.
