What to Give as Gifts for Your Wedding Guests

One of the most special aspects of your wedding day is being able to share it with the people you love. It is common for the bride and groom to present each guest at the wedding with a token of appreciation for taking part in the Big Day. The important thing to remember is you don’t have to spend a lot of money to leave your guests with a lasting impression. No matter what your budget, we have a few tips to guide you as you search for the perfect wedding favors!

1.   Be creative. The most memorable gifts are often those that are handmade. Enlist the help of your bridesmaids and create placeholders that feature a photo of you and your groom. Laminate each photo and add a romantic quote and you have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind favor for each person to take home! (Not to mention reasonably priced.)

2.   If your budget allows, consider personalized favors. There are literally hundreds of creative ideas out there, ranging from tea bags to chocolate bars to fortune cookies. If you can think it, it can be created!

3.   Think about presentation. The presentation of the wedding favors can be just as important as the table decorations and settings. For example, consider things like breakaway centerpieces, which break apart and allow for each guest at the table to take home part of the flower arrangement; or favor trees, which can be really beautiful if you are getting married around holiday time. You decorate the tree with wedding favors, and your guests stop by and pick up their very special memento on their way out! (But remember – if you choose this option, you will need to use lightweight favors.)

4.   Remember to give your wedding party separate gifts. It is common practice to give each bridesmaid and each groomsman a gift separate from the customary wedding favors. Again – you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make the gifts special. A candle, a picture frame with a special picture in it, or money clips all make nice but inexpensive tokens of appreciation.

5.   Plan ahead. Don’t wait until the last minute to try and create or order wedding favors. If you are having the favors specially made, they will need to be ordered in advance to ensure that they arrive on time; and if you are creating the favors yourself, you do not want to be stuck trying to throw something together a few days before the wedding. This adds unnecessary stress to you and will probably be evident in the quality of the wedding favors.
