Giving Gifts to Your Wedding Party

The Etiquette of Saying "Thank You"

In addition to all the wonderful gifts you’ll be receiving on your wedding day, you want to make sure the members of your wedding party get a gift too. Your present to them is a way of thanking them for all their time and effort, and, most important, of showing your love.

Generally, the bridesmaids receive the same gift, as do all the groomsmen. It’s completely acceptable, however, to buy each wedding-party member a different gift, so long as they’re all in the same price range. Your maid of honor and best man should be given something a little more special than the rest of the party.

There’s no price limit when buying gifts; it depends on your budget and the formality of your affair. If your bridesmaids/groomsmen are spending a lot of money on you and your wedding, be sure to reciprocate appropriately. You can opt for personal items (anything monogrammed) to more general gifts (spa treatments, concert tickets). Perfume and cologne are popular, but make sure you know each person’s favorite scent.

Their turn.
Both the bridesmaid gifts and the groomsmen gifts are traditionally handed out at the rehearsal dinner. The bride delivers her gifts; the groom, his. Make sure you take each person aside to thank them for their support in sharing your big day.

Do not wait until the last minute to purchase wedding-party gifts. Although presents can be bought anytime, your days will become increasingly chaotic as the wedding approaches. Try to take care of gift-buying at least a month before your ceremony. Then share the love with all involved.
