A Center Full of Beauty

Centerpiece Suggestions

When it comes to the décor of your reception, the centerpieces tend to make one of the biggest statements of the event. Whether your tables are adorned with votives that glisten throughout the room, or you reach new heights with over-the-top floral arrangements, it’s all about your style and your personal taste, not rules.

Your wedding, your choice.
In keeping with the romantic essence that weddings naturally exude, there is no doubt that the centers of your tables are much more than another detail. They will be one of the first things your guests notice when they walk into the room, so you’ll want them to be perfect.

Whether flowers are the main attraction, or crystals and lanterns glistening in the dim evening lights, traditional and modern styles can either be merged together or kept apart, depending on the type of reception you are having, and the season you’re in.

Seasonal events.

Formal black-tie affairs call for an abundance of exquisite flowers arranged in dramatic vases with lights that illuminate each and every pedal. If you’re planning a fall or winter wedding, rich jewel tones like ruby red, emerald green, cobalt blue and deep purple can make dramatically gorgeous centerpieces. From roses to orchids or black Calla lilies, vibrant hues can make a traditional venue pop with seasonal vibrancy, especially when paired with colored spotlights beaming from overhead or coming from underneath. To up the oomph even more, colored crystals hanging from invisible wires will radiate brilliance throughout the room, when hit with candle light from below.

For a summer or spring wedding, breezy, uncomplicated arrangements lend a hand to the laid-back atmosphere of the season. With guests dressed in flowing sundresses and light and airy suits, an over indulgence in décor can seem overdone and quite ordinary. For a modern twist, use a tall, clear fluted glass vase filled to the brim with baby’s breath. Besides being one of the less expensive flowers you’ll find, when it is on its’ own the drama of its simplicity is undeniable, and it fits in perfectly with a late-afternoon wedding.

Ideas, ideas and more ideas.

Creativity is key when arranging flowers. Although you can never go wrong with a square, glass vase brimming over with white roses, today’s trends lean more towards the extraordinary. When it comes to vases and containers, the sizes, shapes and colors are endless; tall, short, clear glass, wrought iron, shallow bowls, terracotta pots and hurricane lanterns are just the tip of the iceberg. Although simplicity can be extremely beautiful, other additions can really make your centerpieces be remembered.

Fruits integrated with flowers in cement urns can transform your table into a storybook secret garden. Surround the base of the urn with intricate and life-like marzipan apples, pears or apricots, or silver dishes filled with chocolate-dipped fruits to make it beautiful for the eye and the palette!

For an exotic trip to Morocco, vintage lanterns (easily found at flea markets) adorned with hanging, colored crystals and draped in ivy will be an absolute showstopper. Top it with a heaping, shallow gold bowl of white peonies and hydrangeas. Surround the base with jeweled colored votives to keep the flow, and guest’s interest, going from top to bottom.

The possibilities are virtually endless when it comes to your centerpieces. What traditionally was a place exclusively for flowers and dozens of candles has given way to an integration of various items that can make your centerpieces stand out from the rest.
