Philadelphia Wedding Guide

Planning the Perfect Philly Wedding

A city famous for love, tradition and great food, Philadelphia is the perfect place to get married. It’s the City of Brotherly Love, the home of the Liberty Bell, and a great place to grab a cheese steak. A wedding in this Pennsylvania paradise makes perfect sense, for the capital’s urban charm and quiet sophistication. It’s smaller than New York, less formal than Boston, and so close to Washington D.C. you might accidentally stumble into the wrong White House on the way to the reception.  Like most East Coast cities, it’s easy to get to (by train, bus, or plane) from anywhere in the region, making life for your wedding guests that much easier, and the architecture is sophisticated enough to make you both drop on one knee.

Weddings have been taking place here since, wouldn’t you know it, the birth of this nation, so if you pick this primo locale, know that you’ll need to plan far in advance. (Cost-wise, you’re on a par with most big Eastern cities, except the bigger Big Apple.) You have a variety of options, including somewhere classical and all-in-one, like the Ritz-Carlton or the Four Seasons, or one of the quieter waterfront venues sprinkled all over the city. There are several historical mansions and homes that can be rented out as well. Don’t fret over vendors; we have you covered.

Speaking of being covered, Philadelphia gets cold in the winter, and the weather is East Coast unpredictable year-round. Whatever time of year you hold your ceremony, your party is not going to run out of things to do. You can arrange historical tours, or just museum hop on your own. Rocky’s famous steps are a must-see, and as centrally located as all those shops on South Street. It’s a city of endless and varied options, and each of them truly classic.
