Dallas Wedding Florists Guide
Have the Perfect Flowers for Your Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex Wedding

Dallas brings to mind everything big: Big oil star J.R. Ewing, big fashions, and that big yellow Texas rose. As rough and tumble as the Dallas/Ft. Worth area may seem to outsiders (this is cowboy country, after all), Texans love their grandiose, bright, and anything-but-subtle flowers.

Don’t think your Dallas wedding florist is going to recommend a cactus and some sage brush for decorations; some of the country’s biggest florists come from the Metroplex, and they’ve got you covered. Chances are, if you’re getting married in one of Dallas’ big hotels, a florist will be provided. If not, the one you pick will probably be familiar with your site. If you’re getting married in a private country club or home, you’ll need to make sure they’re familiar with the surroundings. A reliable Dallas/Fort Worth florist will take a tour of your site.

Not surprisingly, big flowers are popular in these parts. Lilies, sunflowers, hydrangeas, orchids, and the state flower, the Blue Bonnet – and contrary to myth, it’s not illegal to pick this wild spring wonder. Roses of every color are giants for weddings. Unfortunately for such a lovely bloom, that particular yellow one was immortalized in a song and story which strike some as racist. They are indeed beautiful flowers, but you may want to discuss with your groom if they might carry implications to your guests that you don’t intend.

When you’re ready to start interviewing Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex florists, visit the OurWeddingDay.com Dallas/Ft. Worth Local Vendor section for a great list of top Northern Texas wedding florists.

When “picking” florists, ask to see photos from an entire wedding, not just a “best of” book. Make sure the person you interview will be the same person who works the day of your ceremony, and ask if the flowers will be set-up or just dropped off.  Accidents happen, so have it stated in your contract what flowers will be substituted should an unforeseen shortage of your blooms occur on your big day.

Sometimes less is more, so if you’re looking to save some cash, go with a bouquet of a couple of calla lilies combined with lots of greenery. You can go similar routes with centerpieces and surrounding blooms. Then show your big heart by donating extra flower arrangements to local hospitals or charities. And Dallas florist or site coordinator should be able to give you a contact number.  But for now, take your time and smell the roses.
