Wedding Reception Hot Spots in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex
Remember when Dallas was synonymous with that evil Ewing clan? Not anymore. Nowadays, the city has grown in glamour, nightlife, shopping, and, of course, weddings. Planning to tie the knot (or rope) here? Check out these fab celebration spots for a party even the Ewings would kill to attend.
Just outside the city, Victorian House, in nearby Kaufman, is a 50-acre sanctuary. Plan a wedding here, and you have a choice between all-inclusive or plan-it-yourself. (They’ll help, as is the Southern way.) Just like the name says, it’s a restored, two-story Victorian home, with a walkway leading to a country chapel that can seat 200. There’s also a gazebo (great for photos), reception hall, and down-home furnishings. All of the food and prep work is handled by the staff, so you just have to buck up and say “I Do.”
Also just outside the hustle and bustle of the city is the Reagin House, in Forney. At first glance, this country-chic home looks like an elegant house you’d dream about owning one day. But get up close and personal and you’ll find it’s got all the right stuff for everything on your agenda. Weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, garden parties, cocktail parties, photo sessions, showers…you name it, they can handle it. Hold a celebration here and you can provide your own caterer, or select from their list of recommended vendors.
Time to head uptown? Check out Maple Manor in the Dallas Arts District. Built in 1898, the hotel features an indoor reception area with French doors, a baby grand piano, even a two-story staircase. There are also five suites on the premises, should you decide to camp out after the big day. (Can’t decide? Maybe Jacuzzi jets and complimentary breakfast will seal the love deal.) The garden, also perfect for that wedding, reception or cocktail party, has three waterfalls, streams, and lighting—if your affair lasts into the evening hours.
The Alexander Mansion, in Dallas, was designed specifically for weddings. Not surprisingly, they’re prepared. Ceremony and receptions can hold from 50 to 200 guests, there’s a built-in dance floor, DJ area, dressing rooms, even a winding staircase for that Southern bridal entrance. The wedding coordinator is included in the packages, as are their famous European cakes. You can pick from several menu choices, and, since you’re already in the big city, there’s an assortment of top hotels nearby for guests to reside in.
