Budget Wedding in New York

Need to save money on your wedding in New York?

With some savvy planning and flexibility, you can trim down your bill without sacrificing style.

Seek Discounts
Book during the off-season for discounts on New York wedding venues, transportation, catering, accommodations and other wedding vendors. The off-season runs from November to early March. However, November isn’t necessarily cold or unpleasant in New York City, so you may have to negotiate for off-season rates or move your wedding to December or January if you’re seeking deep discounts.

Cut Down Liquor Costs
Liquor costs can really up the price of a wedding in New York. If drinking isn’t important to you and your spouse, consider limiting the availability of alcohol at your reception. Alternately, try booking a venue that allows you to furnish your own alcohol.  Then discuss bulk discounts and low-budget alternatives like boxed wine with your local liquor store.

Make Your own Favors
Search online for vendors selling personalized ribbons or other wedding-related trinkets. Then get together with some of your friends to construct favors. Remember, cheap does not have to mean trashy. Shop for useful and thoughtful favors, not something your guests will likely throw away after your wedding.

Shop Sample Sales
Shop for a wedding gown at a trunk or sample sale. These are often crowded and hectic. Plan to arrive at the sale early. Wear tight-fitting clothes so you can try dresses on over your clothes if necessary. If you’re plus size or very petite, it may be difficult to find a sample size gown in your measurements.
