Plan the Perfect South Florida Wedding
Miami is just about the coolest site on Planet Earth. Cool beaches, cool Art Deco, and weather that gets so steamy it’s cool. Cooler still: your Miami wedding. Whether you want to celebrate your big day on Miami Beach, in the fab and trendy Design District, or in downtown, you’ll feel like the hottest Southern Florida duo since Crocket & Tibbs.
The big advantage of Miami weddings is that tropical weather -- a snowstorm is most likely not going to interrupt your affair. Outdoor ceremonies and receptions are all the rage, and Miami beach weddings are a fabulous choice. (The turquoise waters in these parts is the Caribbean’s equal, with no passport required!) You will need a rain plan, however: The wettest months are June, August, and September, the driest, December through February. Hurricanes hit Miami on average once every four years. Make sure to look into trip insurance and site policy regarding hurricane season, from June through November.
Should you be getting married in the summer months, know that the average temperature is 89 degrees F. Humidity is high in these parts, which will affect your hair and makeup. Nighttime receptions are a smart choice if you want to go al fresco. Also, winter temperatures average 59 degrees F., so make sure that mini you’ve picked out comes with a wrap. Guests (especially those coming from out of town who think Miami is hot year-round) need to be informed, so they can bring proper attire.
Two airports in the Miami area (Miami and Ft. Lauderdale International Airports) make getting there for a Florida wedding a breeze. Make sure ample time is allotted for vendors and guests (we’ll make sure you know what’s appropriate), along with detailed maps to the destinations. Traffic on Miami Beach can be grueling. If your Florida ceremony or reception is in the area, and guests are not staying on the Beach, organize as many car pools as possible. This is also a great time to reserve vans to and fro. Miami Beach has a decadent edge, and party-plenty guests will love a ride home.
Put on your shades, shake up the martinis, and dress up in your most fabulous Deco-tage. Miami is one place where vice is always nice!
