Creative Ideas for Reception Tables
Non-floral centerpieces are a popular alternative to bouquets or single flowers. They can be simple and elegant (candles), or festive and full (twigs, baskets of fruit). Couples often opt for non-floral reception table centerpieces because they tend to be cheaper than flowers, but they can also add a touch of personality to your wedding.
Should you be having a fall wedding, for example, pumpkins and gourds add a lovely touch to your table. Ditto votive candles for a backyard or beach affair. Holiday affairs can mean candy cane bouquets or individual wreaths. Whatever your heart desires (like chocolate for your Valentine’s Day affair) can go on the tables.
If you’re a creative type, make your own centerpieces. If you decide on DIY, make sure you have the time needed to put them together, and a person willing to set them up the day of your wedding. While you might think you have the time now, as it comes closer to your ceremony, your calendar’s going to be completely booked.
If you’re planning on having non-floral centerpieces that involve either plants or branches, talk to your florist to see if he’s willing, and able, to put them together. Some florists can also work with seasonal fruit, and are used to planning theme weddings, such as Thanksgiving. They also might have candles in stock.
There’s a good chance that the more creative you go, you’ll either have to go it alone, or hire a designer for the job. Granted, it means paying an additional vendor, but you still might save money. Do a search for, say, “Christmas Centerpieces” or “Non Floral Centerpieces” and you’ll find a variety of specialists in the field you need.
Your wedding should never be a testament to how much money you spend, but how much style you have. If you love the idea of a creative, non floral centerpiece, even something as simple as a bowl of cherries, make life your new life and go with the sweet idea.
