Unconventional Seasonal Themes
Unique Wedding Themes to Consider
Before anything else is planned, you’ll need to choose your wedding theme. Your theme will provide uniformity for the type of wedding you want to have: which colors work best, and how to incorporate every detail so that they fit together perfectly.
You can base your wedding theme on any number of things, but many brides consider when they’re getting married. Here are some fun and non-traditional wedding theme examples, inspired by Mother Nature!
Heating up.
With a summer wedding, you can incorporate the nice weather with the fun and relaxed atmosphere of a beach:
- Instead of ice sculptures, try handcrafted sand castles
- Have seashells and sand dollars as party favors
- Ask your guests attend barefoot
- Use wildflowers in your hair
Down to earth.
For an autumn wedding, focus on the falling orange, red and yellow leaves.
- Instead of bouquets of flowers, a trail of leaves follows you down the isle
- Use miniature pumpkins as your wedding table centerpieces
- Scatter leaves around the wedding cake, and strung around the tables
Cool and collected.
A white winter wedding can be the most elegant and refined of affairs.
- Have your bridesmaids wear either silver or gold
- Choose deep reds or greens for the bridesmaids’ dresses, with velvet gloves
- Drape “snowflakes” all over the tables and hanging on the reception walls
- Nothing’s better for a winter wedding than ice sculptures
In Bloom.
Spring is the time to embrace the beautiful blooming flowers.
- Have lots of pastel colors, especially for your bridesmaids
- Tulips, Lilacs and Daisies are perfect for the ceremony and reception
- Be prepared with matching umbrellas for your bridal party, just in case
- Give spring-related favors, such as seeds to grow your wedding flowers, birdhouses or – if you’re having a traditional Catholic wedding – some chocolate Easter eggs
