A Lovely Guide & Keepsake of Your Wedding Day
Wedding Programs are a great way to remember special moments, thank the wedding party for their participation, and give your guests a play-by-play of your ceremony. An additional expense, yes (costs vary widely, depending on how much work you’re willing to do, and how many programs you need), but it can serve multiple purposes, as well as be a fun addition to your memory books.
There’s no hard-and-fast rule about how to write your wedding program. However, there are ways to organize, as well as include explanations of certain situations or special religious rituals that many of your guests, who may not be of your faith, will not understand.
What’s usually included:
Cover.
This introductory page states the wedding date, your names and possibly the location of your ceremony. Some couples also include a beautiful quote or graphic that encompasses what the day means for them.
The wedding party.
No matter where it’s included, it’s important to list the members of your bridal party, including the bridesmaids and groomsmen. You may, for the guests benefit, write briefly underneath each name their relation to you to give a better understanding of how the wedding party was selected.
The schedule.
List, in order, the series of events to occur throughout your ceremony, as well as those who are included, such as the readers and what they’ll be reading from.
Thank-you’s.
You may want to thank those important people in your life who’ve given you a helping hand in the wedding process. They won’t expect this shout out, but they’ll appreciate it.
The finishing touch.
A memorable quote, bible passage, song lyric, or even an original sentiment straight from your heart can be a nice conclusion on the last page.
There are also plenty of options for creating your programs. You can provide the wording and layout, and then assign someone else to write it out to save you time and stress. Order them from the same place that you get your invitations, or anywhere that specializes in wedding literature. Or, to save money, you could do it all yourself with you printer, a copy machine and a stapler!
