Tips and Ideas
-
When to Send Save-the-Date Cards
Plan to send Save-the-Date postcards nine to twelve months before the wedding. This is a fun and convenient way of announcing your special day and telling guests to reserve the date of your wedding before they make other plans.
-
Wording for Save-the-Date Cards
There are no set rules for wording Save-the-Date cards. The choices are yours. Save-the-Date cards are an announcement, so you will need to include some basic information about your wedding, such as the date, city and state where the wedding will be held, and the names of the bride and groom. Including a phrase like Invitation to Follow is also a good idea.
You may also want to include the web address of your personal wedding website if you have set one up, and hotel and travel details if extensive travel plans are needed for your out-of town guests.
-
Examples of Wording
The two wording examples below include only the basic information, but you could choose to add quotes, poems or song lyrics, travel details and much more. The final choice of words is up to you.
