Hosting a Shower at the Office

These days, work and life balance can be hard to maintain. Working brides-to-be often have many friends at the office. Office birthday parties, baby showers and bridal showers are no longer uncommon. Brides rarely plan their own showers, but if you're throwing one for someone else, try these tips when throwing your coworker a small bridal shower party at the office.

Tell Your Boss
First, ask your boss, supervisor or human resources department for permission. If your workplace prohibits parties, consider hosting a small gathering at a home or restaurant during lunch break or after work.

Get Decorating Help
Chances are, you’ll need to decorate a common area or conference room in a hurry. Enlist a few coworkers to help you put up basic decorations like balloons and crepe ribbons. Make sure they’re available to help you clean up as well.

Respect Your Coworkers
Not everyone will be able to attend. Avoid loud music and rowdy games. While formal paper invitations aren’t necessary for a casual party, be sure that everyone is invited if you’re throwing it on company property.

Keep It Simple
Office bridal showers should be planned on a much smaller scale than traditional bridal showers. The bridal shower favors should be simple or may simply be the refreshments offered. Bring along disposable plates, cutlery and cups and be sure to clean up thoroughly after the party. Avoid leaving leftover refreshments out after the day of the party. No one wants stale cake.
