Wedding Massage Tips

How to Fully Relax on Your Big Day

Planning on enjoying a wedding massage at a bridal spa before your big day? Whether you’re having the massage the morning of your wedding or beforehand to wind down from wedding planning, here are some tips to prepare:

  1. If this is your first massage, tell the massage therapist. Be sure to alert her to any sore spots on your body or any areas that are ticklish or that you’d like her to avoid. Let her know if you’re particularly sensitive to heat.

  2. If you have an aversion to any smells, tell the therapist before she begins. Most massages involve essential oils and aromatherapy to help you relax.

  3. Relax while receiving your massage. Don’t think about the wedding. Don’t think about your body. Simple indulge in the stress-relieving sensation of a professional wedding massage.

  4. Massage can be firm or light. If you feel like the massage is too firm, simply tell your massage therapist. She can very easily adjust the pressure of the massage.

  5. If one area or technique feels especially good, don’t hesitate to ask your massage therapist to concentrate on that. For example, if you find that a scalp massage feels better than a foot massage, ask your therapist to focus on massaging your head.

  6. Stay hydrated after your massage. Muscle massage releases chemicals that need to be flushed from your body, so be sure to drink at least two big glasses of water in the hours following your massage.
