Fashion and Hairstyle Decisions

Choosing What's Right for You

One of the biggest beauty decisions brides will encounter is whether to wear their hair up or down. Remember that this largely depends on the cut and style of your dress, and your choice of hairstyle should not be based primarily on current wedding fashion, but on what suits you.

  1. Try on your dress while experimenting with your hair. If you are wearing a strapless dress, and having a summer wedding, then long, flowing waves might be the perfect look for you. If you are wearing a grand ball gown, then you should probably choose among wedding updo hairstyles.

  2. Look at bridal and hair magazines. This will allow you to get a sense of modern wedding hairstyles. Again, do not choose something just because it’s the wedding fashion, but take the time to glean inspiration and ideas from photos. Also, bringing photos to your stylist is very helpful, even if the photo represents “elements” of what you want.

  3. Bring your veil to your stylist. Your veil also affects what hairstyle you choose. If you are wearing a veil that is poofy and full, this will add to the height of your hair. When you are doing a pre-wedding hair and makeup practice run with your stylist, bring your veil! You do not want to decide on a hairstyle, and then surprise your stylist on the day of the wedding with a veil that is difficult to work with.
