Dressing Your Wedding Party Extras
You’re almost done planning your wedding, bridesmaid dresses have been ordered, your fiancé got fitted for his tux, and your last dress fitting is scheduled. What’s left? How about the extras in your bridal party? Wedding party fashion puts the finishing touch on the look and feel of your wedding. Here are some tips on the extras you might have looked over:
Flower Girl and Ring Bearer
Coordinate with the parents of your flower girl and ring bearer to make sure your little attendants are dressed appropriately for the ceremony. Flower girl dresses are traditionally modest and pastel. Some brides dress the flower girl in a miniature version of the wedding dress. Ring bearers should wear accessories that match the groomsmen.
Readers and Ushers
Instruct your readers and ushers to dress formally for your wedding. While they don’t need to coordinate with the rest of the wedding party, they do need to match or exceed the level of formality of your guests. Order smaller boutonnières for your ushers or flowers for your usherettes to help distinguish them. You may also offer small corsages or boutonnières to your readers.
Parents and Grandparents
Let your family know about the wedding colors well ahead of time so that they have time to shop for colors that don’t clash. Be sure to order flowers for the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom. There are no set fashion rules for the grandparents, but most opt to match the formality of the wedding party.
