Bridal Shop Checklist
Be Prepared for Your Wedding Gown Search

Before you step foot in any of the bridal gown shops you have on your list, there are a few things you should consider. As with the rest of your wedding planning, the most important aspect of this process is to stay focused on what you want and to remain organized. You’ll want to avoid walking into any bridal stores vulnerable and unprepared. Keep the following ideas and lists handy as you begin your quest for your wedding gown.

  1. Know your final budget: A lot of brides forget to factor in their headpiece or veil when calculating their wedding dress budget; and lets not forget about your shoes, shawl, jewelry, undergarments, and clutch. You should also factor in alterations in your wedding dress budget, since most of time alterations are needed.

  2. Timing is key: If your schedule permits that you shop during a weekday then do it. These hours are a bit slower at bridal shops than in the evenings and on weekends and will give you more one on one time with the sales person.

  3. Be open to try on anything: You really can’t tell what a dress will look like until it’s on.

  4. Take your time: Don’t commit to a dress immediately, instead take a day or even a week to think it over before deciding that it’s the one.

  5. Know the numbers game: Don’t be surprised if the wedding dress you finally pick is a size or two bigger than normal, because wedding dresses typically run small.
